Data controllers

What data, and why

Name, email address, phone number (optional), planned dates or duration, number of guests, and the message you write.

Purpose: to handle your stay request or rental application, and reply to you. These are what data protection law calls pre-contractual measures — the data is used to prepare a possible contract, nothing else.

How long

For as long as needed to handle your request, then for as long as the law requires commercial correspondence to be kept — at most 3 years after the last contact, unless a lease is later signed, in which case the legal retention period for such a contract applies.

For a rental application, the documents in your file are limited to what is strictly necessary to decide. If your application is not selected, they are deleted as soon as the decision is communicated to you.

Who receives your data

The relevant data controller, who replies to your request.

To OVH, our host, which technically carries the site’s email. Sending and receiving stay with the same host, already part of the setup: no additional processor, and no transfer outside the European Union.

No one else. This site does not sell or share your data for commercial purposes.

If you use WhatsApp

The WhatsApp numbers shown on the site are a direct contact channel. WhatsApp is a Meta service: messages you send there are subject to its own privacy policy, outside the European Union. The site itself does not collect them.

Request log

Every request sent from the site is written to an internal log: date, listing concerned, type of request, dates or length wanted, number of people, language, and whether the acknowledgement could be sent. This log holds neither your name, nor your email address, nor your message.

Purpose: to check that no request goes unanswered, and to follow how many come in.

Retention: 12 months for a stay request, 24 months for a rental application. After that, the line is deleted automatically.

If sending fails for a technical reason, your request is kept temporarily in our technical logs so it can be handled by hand. That copy is deleted automatically after 30 days.

Your rights

Access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection, portability — you can exercise these rights by writing to contact@portugal-immobilier.com, whichever listing is concerned.

No bank details are ever requested. Your request goes straight to the owner, who replies to you personally.
